I used pine shavings for years with my chickens. I was annoyed that even after cleaning out the coops – I would still collect dirty eggs. That’s when I discovered hemp bedding!
Aside from cleaner eggs and faster composting, there are other benefits to hemp that I didn’t mention in the video.
Hemp bedding is a LOT less dusty than pine shavings. And less dust makes it easier to breathe for you and your chickens.
From a sustainability standpoint, hemp renews itself annually. Pine trees can take years before they are ready to be harvested.
