5 reasons not to throw away your male cannabis plants!
Okay, so when growing your own cannabis plants from seed, you’re bound to feel a little disappointed each time you realise that one of your cannabis plants is a male.
Hopefully the ratio of female to male plants will still see you smiling, but don’t be too hasty when you think about binning male plants.
Okay, we’ll allow you to let rip with a few expletives for each male plant you find, but don’t get too annoyed as all is far from lost.
To begin with, you can still make your own hashish from a male plant, only it won’t blow your head off, and instead just give you a gentle relaxing buzz.
The stems and leaves still contain some THC and CBD, just in low quantities.
However, there are times when you may just want to chill and unwind, but without getting stoned, and maybe the cannabis you’ve got stored away is just so strong that one hit and you’re away on another planet.
In addition to hash, you can produce cannabis oil and concentrates to use in edibles like cannabutter or hash brownies. Once again maybe you don’t want everyone to get stoned, but you like to add a little something special to the food you prepare.
You can dry the leaves, carboxylate them in the oven for 45 minutes, then make some herbal tea. It won’t have much THC in it, but you still get the therapeutic benefits of the cannabis plant.
How about making your own strain of cannabis? Got a couple of favourite strains you fancy combining? You’re gonna need a male plant for that, aren’t you? Time to get creative, like they do on Blue Peter, only they haven’t got round to cannabis cultivation in the Blue Peter garden just yet!
Lastly, male cannabis plants make good compost, and not just for growing more cannabis.
