Canibus Dizaster
June 9th, 2012 – King of the Dot’s Vendetta Event
Canibus makes his triumphant return to battle rap… at least thats what was supposed to happen.
With an already incredibly shaky first and second round with many clear stumbles and chokes – Canibus pulls out a notepad in his third round.
What makes this choke even worse is that Canibus yelled at Organik for cutting him off and told him he wanted this round to be unlimited. Then continued to choked… as he was reading his note pad.
The choke was so awful that it went viral – appearing on World Star Hip Hop, Funny or Die, and spreading like wildfire on social media
Calicoe Lux
August 19th, 2012 – Smack/URL’s Summer Madness 2 Card
In what is arguably the most iconic performances in battle rap history – Loaded Lux ends his first round in an equally as iconic choke.
With Lux awkwardly talking to people, Calicoe audibly making fun of Lux, and Poison Pen having classic reactions – this is one that everyone remembers.
Ultimately, the choke was 2 minutes and 20 seconds long. But strangely, this did not ruin the battle for Lux – who went on in many people’s eyes to win the battle.
Loe Pesci Real Deal
August 6th, 2010 – King of the Dot’s World Domination 1 Event
Loe Pesci begins his second round looking nervous… and stereotypical of a choke – goes for the water.
Ultimately, he chokes for 1 full minute until Real Deal says this –
Loe Pesci says no to this, and continues to choke. King of the Dot editors fast forward through the footage TWICE.
Then he checks his phone. Eventually, Organik cuts him off and it is decided that his round will go after Real Deal’s
In what is perhaps the longest choke of all time – sources at the venue put the total choke legnth at 6 minutes.
Okwerdz Rone – 2145 –
September 17th, 2011 – Grind Time’s Follow the Leader Event.
Big pressue, hold on dont talk, hold on, choke, diss crowd, freestyled and choked again.
In what was huge pressure on Okwerdz – having essentially been a villian figure to the East Coast and this battle taking place in New York City – Okwerdz’ needed to be extra on point.
But he let the pressure – much of it taking the form of hecking – get to him.
Tony D Real Deal 455, 519, 540, 855, 930, 1005 –
March 23rd, 2013 – King of the Dot’s Vengeance 2 Event.
In one of the worst multi chokes of all time, Tony D began his first round stumbling. Then he choked… then he choked again… then he choked again… then he cut his round.
In his second, he stumbled some more. Choked again. Choked. And cut his round short.
Rich Dollaz X Factor
November 20th, 2011 – Smack URL’s Motor City Mayhem Event
Having already became notorious for choking previously – and the fact that he was representing New York in Detroit… it was important for Rich DOllarz not to mess up in this battle.
But he did. And he made it much worse – by choking on this highly ironic line –
“That quitting shit I was never on”
Then he made it even worse… by doing it again.
X2
Hitman Goodz 4 – stood around for a while, had a blank look on his face, 40 seconds
540 – 10 second pause
October 29th, 2011 – Battle America’s First Event
Hitman is 2 minutes and 30 seconds into his first and only round of the battle. Then this happens –
To me, this is one of the most overrated worst chokes of all time. Many people state – incorrectly – that Hitman repeated himself several times or that this ended his round. Neither of those are true. Hitman did not repeat himself, continued to rap after, and generally handled this very well.
Holla clearly forgot where he was in his rhymes or what came next – paused for 55 seconds – and regained his composure. So while this choke was handled pretty well – for purposes of being so infamous – this ranks high on the list.
Miles Lux
Smack DVD 12 – 2007
In what was already a dominating performance by his opponent – Young Miles chokes twice against Lux.
It wasn’t the simple fact that he choked twice that was so detrimental – but the fact that he choked after 30-40 seconds each time… and that his opponent was cooking him.
This would go down as one of the great bodybags of the DVD era.
Daley Caustic 630 –
In arguably the most perplexing choke on this list, Calgary battler Daley flat out walks off stage in his battle with Caustic after only spitting a few lines.
Of course, Caustic, being one of the most disrespectful battlers of all time – was sure to include this in the opening of his next round.
Daley admits in his post-interview that he has anxiety and was having a panic attack on stage. I’m really limiting personal feelings in this video – but huge shout out to ANYONE with anxiety willing to perform in front of large crowds.
Rich Midwest Miles 353
October 31st, 2009 – The Ultimate Rap League’s First Ever Event
In the first battle ever released on the URL channel. The Bronx vs Detroit. Battle rap history.
