Central US Hemp Expo
Regulation, economics, nutrition, and markets — the current legal status of hemp as an ingredient in animal feed and treats, where we are in the approval process, and what steps need to be taken next. The discussion will also include the economic viability of hemp by-products, the potential for the companion and production animal feed markets, and the nutritional value of hemp for animals and the humans who consume them.
Hunter Buffington – Program Director, Hemp Feed Coalition
The Hemp Feed Coalition is an official program of Friends of Hemp!
Our mission is to gain federal approval for the inclusion of hemp as an animal feed ingredient by shepherding hemp and hemp by-products through the approval process with the FDA-CVM (Center for Veterinary Medicine) and completing New Ingredient Definition applications for submission to American Association of Feed Control Officials (AAFCO).
Consider donating to the Hemp Feed Coalition. Together we can support Researchers and gain the data needed to complete new ingredient definitions for hemp seed: oil, cake and meal, protein powder, screenings and other hemp by-products. You can donate at: https://www.bggives.org/friendsofhemp.
Donors who contribute a minimum of $100 will be recognized on our website as ‘Friends of Hemp Feed Coalition’. Consider giving today to ensure that hemp is a legal animal feed ingredient and to improve the economic opportunities for farmers and the health of our pets and livestock!
Purpose:
-Filing to benefit entire industry and especially farmers: not specific company’s products.
-The Steering Committee is a coalition of stakeholders representing the hemp industry, farmers, livestock producers, animal feed formulators, researchers and regulators.
