Meet Ruth Ann. She started on cannabinoid therapy to manage her degenerative disc disease, after her prescribed medications failed to provide enough relief. Since initiating cannabinoid therapy, I was able to support Ruth Ann in tapering some of her other pain medications, reducing the number of daily medications – and potential side-effects. She is now much more active and has seen a real increase in quality of life. Ruth Ann’s case highlights how effective this class of medication can be and why more education on the endocannabinoid system is so needed – both in med school and continuing education for practitioners.
