Are you looking for GameDay food ideas? If so, you have come to the right place. Each week, my husband and I will be cooking up some grub that is perfect for tailgating or football parties.
Sausage Bread
1 can of pizza dough (we used Pillsbury)
8 sausage frozen sausage patties (we used Swaggerty’s spicy sausage patties)
1/4 of a block of cream cheese, softened
1 egg, beaten
Sprinkle of mozzarella cheese
Salt and pepper
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Cook and crumble sausage until browned.
3. Add softened cream cheese and let it melt slightly. Mix in with the sausage. Add pepper to taste.
4. Spray a foiled baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray. Spread out the dough on the baking sheet.
5.Spread the crumbled sausage over the dough. Leave some room around the edges so the sausage doesn’t spill out when rolling.
6. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top of the sausage.
7. Carefully roll the pizza dough (long ways) and tuck seam side down. Brush the dough with the beaten egg.
8. Sprinkle the top of the dough with salt and pepper.
9. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until dough is cooked through.
Homemade Hotdog Chili
1 lb of ground beef (we used 93%lean)
1 1/2 tablespoons of chili powder
3/4 cup of sugar free ketchup (or regular ketchup)
2 Tbs of Worcestershire sauce
4 good pinches of salt
1. Add ground beef to a medium sized pot. Cover the beef with water.
2. With your hands, mash up the meat in the water. Add more water, if needed, to cover the meat slightly.
3. Put the meat on medium to medium high heat and add the salt, chili powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and bring to a boil. Once it begins to boil, turn the heat to medium to medium low and add the ketchup. Stir and let it simmer for at least an hour. We let ours simmer all day.
Buffalo Chicken Dip
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 3/4 blocks of softened cream cheese
3/4 of cup of Frank’s hot sauce or wing sauce
Salt and pepper
1. Salt and pepper your raw chicken on both sides.
2. Add hot water to a medium sized pot, enough to cover the chicken.
3. Bring the water to a boil. Once it boils, turn the temperature down (low to medium low). This will take about an hour.
4. Once the chicken is done, take it out of the water and shred it.
5. Drain the water from the pot and add in the cream cheese. Keep the pot on a medium low temp
6. On top of the cream cheese, add the shredded chicken. Mix the chicken and the cream cheese. This may take a minute depending on how softened and melty your cream cheese is. Let it sit for a minute if needed.
7. Add hot sauce or wing sauce and mix well. Once everything is mixed well, taste it to see if you need to add more sauce (if it’s not hot enough) or more cream cheese (if it’s too hot).
Smoked Baked Beans
4 (15.8oz) cans or 2 (27.5oz) cans of Bush’s Zero Sugar Added baked beans
3 slices of bacon, cut into small pieces
1/2 cup of white onion, chopped
1 packet of beefy onion soup mix
1/4 cup of Truvia zero calorie brown sugar
Pepper
1. Preheat your smoker to 225 degrees. If you don’t have a smoker, preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
2. In a medium pot, saute your onions and bacon together on medium heat. The onions should be translucent and the bacon should be almost done.
3. Add the soup mix and brown sugar. Stir well.
4. Add your beans and pepper and stir well. Let your beans cook for about 30 minutes. This will allow the beans to thicken, the flavors to marry, and the bacon to finish cooking.
5. After 30 minutes, put your beans into a 2 to 2 1/2 quart baking dish and place on the smoker for 2-3 hours. It can smoke longer if you would like. If you are using an oven, cook the beans for about 40-45 minutes.
Optional: For a more bacony flavor, add strips of bacon to the top before smoking or baking. 🙂
