Mayacuya: Potent Passion Fruit Pot
Bud Basics
A rare and delectable Sativa-dominant strain, Maracuya Feminized (also known as Passion Fruit) is the fruity hybrid created by combining already delicious strains, Sweet Pink Grapefruit and Orange Bud. Blending the sweet-sour notes, this weed will have you wondering whether there’s really passionfruit rolled into your joint.
With an average of 20% THC, cannabis consumers covet this strain for more than just her flavors – she’s potent enough to kick you in the teeth in just a few tokes, and careful consideration should be given before overindulging in this herb.
Early on in your high, you’ll quickly be uplifted into a blissful state that encourages creativity by focusing the mind and boosting energy and motivation. All the while, your muscles will relax even as your mind explores – making Maracuyaa choice strain for pain relief, alongside lifting the negative thoughts of anxiety and stress away.
Though long-lasting in her high, a strain this delicious will have your stash dwindling before you know it – but average to intermediate growing skills will have you stocked up in no time, as she’s a high yielding variant that truly rewards the time and effort put into helping her flourish. And with all fem seeds, there’s no need to worry about the removal of males from your crops.
Flavor and Fragrance of Maracuya Feminized
Though you might never have heard of it, Maracuya is in fact the Spanish word for passionfruit, so it’s fair to say you might be able to guess the flavor profile of this weed, and it’ll be self-evident the moment you open the bag – or walk into the grow room, as her aroma is potent even before harvesting.
Blending a strong, sweet and tart citrus scent with subtle herbal notes, many tokers will tell you this ganja tastes just like the real fruit, burning to produce a smooth herbal and lemony smoke – though it all depends on how well the herb is dried and cured.
Effects
A joint of Maracuya Fem doesn’t take long to make herself known, and almost immediately after taking a hit you’ll notice her effect on your senses. Colors will become more vivid under her influence, and sounds become clearer – overall, building to a subtle and yet psychedelic feeling that improves your mood, releases you from the burden of worries, and somewhat reduces your inhibitions.
Sativa-leaning, this weed focuses on the mind, encouraging conversation and creativity in a cerebral enhancement that boosts energy and motivation, giving you the get-go to power through everyday chores with ease. And yet even while your body is filled with vigor, you’ll feel calm, chilled and relaxed.
Higher doses of Maracuya will produce stronger effects, pushing the mind into a spacey and disconnected place that keeps you couchlocked while your brain wanders wildly. If that’s your thing, then go for it – but be warned that too much of this herb can lead to dizziness, increase feelings of anxiety and paranoia, and of course, leave you with dry eyes and cottonmouth.
Growing Maracuya Feminized Seeds
As a Sativa-dominant strain, Maracuya Feminized is smaller than you might expect, growing no more than 90 centimeters when fully mature – though she’s a beauty of green and orange, it can’t be denied.
With long, thin serrated fan leaves, sugar-leaves and elongated buds, she’s a gorgeous specimen even before you consider the abundance of amber pistils that turn her coloration golden.
Not recommended for total newbies, a good level of experience, optimum environment and plenty of space is required for vigorous growth, though she’ll happily thrive in hydroponics (better for explosive growth) or organic soil (which will improve the terpene profile, and therefore the flavors). Temperatures, as she grows, should be between 21 °and 26°C, with humidity levels of 40% to 50%.
As pistils begin to appear, you can start marking off the days til harvest time, and she’ll flower for 8 or 9 weeks. Indoor growers can expect around 600 grams per square meter, which is a tidy sum for such a small plant – though she’ll do well in a Sea of Green (SoG) setup, which will maximize yield potential.
Outdoor growers will find Maracuya flourishes in warm, sunshine-laden, Mediterranean climates, and with plenty of light you might find yourself harvesting 600 grams of golden nugs per plant. Just remember to keep her dry, and you’ll be ready to take in a crop around early October.
Summary
Combining some of the most deliciously fruity flavors available, Maracuya Feminized truly embodies her namesake passionfruit, enveloping your taste buds in a tropical sweet-sour taste even before her cerebral high lifts you up and out of melancholy to fill you with energy and vigor.
