One of the new bird toys I have made. Parakeets Betty and Veronica got to play with it first. There are many various textures and eye-catching bits, and all are safe for birds to chew on. That is the main reason I decided to try making the toys myself. So many toys in stores are not safe or ideal for birds, they are just money makers for the establishments. The two biggies for me were rusting metal bells and fabric that shreds. Anything like that is quickly being removed and replaced with natural wood branches, glass or wooden beads, safe metals, (stainless steel, and aluminum are a couple), safe things to shred and chew, safe strings like hemp.
Please always be active in searching out safe toys and perches for your feathered friends.
