LAKES ENTRANCE, Victoria, Australia – On the morning of December 11, 2018, Zachary Lyons contacted Bairnsdale police in East Gippsland, Victoria, Australia and reported his brother, 30-year-old Bradley Lyons, missing.
Zachary said he hadn’t heard from Bradley in over a week.
The police contacted Bradley’s wife, 35-year-old Jana Hooper, who told the police that she had last seen Bradley at 6 pm on Sunday, December 2.
She said the two had been sleeping in separate rooms that night. When she got up at 8:30 the next morning, he was gone.
Jana, who had three children with Bradley, told police later that Bradley did not take his phone or wallet with him. She also said that before he left, Bradley told her that if he ended his own life, she would get $380,000.
She said she hadn’t called the police because he had a habit of leaving and returning.
When asked for more, Jana said that the two had been having marital problems in the 12 months leading up to the disappearance. Within that period, the police had to be brought into their home multiple times to stop violence that both sides directed toward each other related to their drug use.
That’s the essence of what she told the police.
In the months that followed, the police would make several startling discoveries, not least of which was CCTV footage conveniently located on a property adjacent to Jana’s.
What they saw floored them. Clear as day, the footage just about told the story about Bradley’s disappearance.
Then, the confessions started to pour in.
No one was prepared for what they would learn.
