Hemp seeds are botanically considered nuts and have a slightly sweet and typically nutty flavor. The seeds of the hemp plant (Latin name Cannabis) are characterized by a high content of healthy fatty acids Omega-6 and Omega-3, as well as other valuable proteins, vitamins, and trace elements.
Hemp seeds, whether hulled, unhulled, in their natural state, roasted, or as oil, are undisputedly rich in exceptionally healthy nutrients. The various effects attributed to hemp seeds or oil are legendary. From overall health to slowing down the aging process, anti-inflammatory properties, good for digestion, performance-enhancing, and recommended for weight loss – the consumption of hemp seeds/hemp seed oil is advocated.
However, most of these claims have not been scientifically proven yet. What is a fact, though, is that they are rich in healthy, polyunsaturated fatty acids and contain many valuable vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. They also provide numerous essential amino acids, making them an important source of easily accessible plant-based protein. This is an advantage especially appreciated by vegetarians and vegans.
