This lecture will describe how we know what plants were used by indigenous people and our more recent ancestors for medicinal purposes. Accounts will be presented on medicinal plants still being used directly or indirectly in modern medicine today.
Dr. Larry DeBuhr has taught a number of plant related courses for Learning in Retirement for the past three years, and also leads interpretative hikes about desert plants on local mountain trails. Before he retired, he taught at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, was Director of Education at the Missouri Botanic Garden, and Vice President of the Chicago Botanical Garden.
The Library is excited to be partnering with Learning in Retirement to offer free programs for area seniors.
