Hello, I’m Dr GPV Subbaiah, and today I’m going to talk about the reasons for joint pain in winter.
Joint pain is a common problem in the winter months. The colder temperatures can cause the soft tissues of our joints to become stiff, leading to pain when we move. That’s because cold weather causes the stiffening of our muscles, which can cause further inflammation of the joints.
Another common cause of joint pain in winter is arthritis. Arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the joints that affects more than 50 million adults in the US. In winter, the cold temperatures can make joints ache, swell, and become stiffer which can lead to increased levels of pain.
Another cause of joint pain in the winter is dehydration. During the winter months, we tend to drink less water, which can lead to dehydration and a decrease in lubrication in the joints, resulting in joint pain.
Finally, if you don’t move enough in the winter months, joint pain can occur due to lack of physical activity. When we don’t move enough, our joints become stiffer and our muscles become weaker, leading to joint pain.
So, there you have it– the reasons for joint pain in winter. Remember, it’s important to take measures to prevent and reduce the effects of joint pain in the winter months by staying hydrated, engaging in physical activity, and wearing appropriate clothing. Thanks for watching!
