In the past, patients undergoing cancer treatment were often told to rest and reduce their physical activity. This is good advice if movement causes pain or shortness of breath. But more research have shown that exercise is not only safe and possible during cancer treatment, but it can improve how well you function physically and your quality of life. Too much rest can lead to loss of body function, muscle weakness, and reduced range of motion. So today, we are encouraging patients to be as physically active as possible during cancer treatment.
This series of video provides useful tips to start physical activities, what to look out for when starting exercise, and some home exercises that can be done at your own space and time. Following these guidelines can help you lead a physically active lifestyle, thereby achieving the desired quality of life.
