The traditional way to take infused oil is sublingually, which means directly under the tongue. The scientific reason behind this is because the area under the tongue have a large number of capillaries. This allows for the cannabis binoids to pass directly into the bloodstream which may offer a faster onset compared to ingestibles (ie. edibles and beverages).
I personally absolutely hate the taste and texture of putting oil under my tongue. That’s why I started infusing my beverages so that I could have a more enjoyable plant experience. Even though the onset does take longer (because the compounds have to be processed by your liver before hitting up your blood brain barrier), I personally don’t mind it! I generally like to time consumption based on my schedule or when I want to feel the effects. For example, if I want to feel the experience around 8 PM, I will generally consume my ingestible around 6 PM, giving my body ample time to digest the desired compounds.
