Today we will take a look at the memoirs of a German lieutenant during the Great War. These are the first memories of this period of time, which I decided to share. The point is that they inspired me with a very graphic and, I think, detailed and accurate portrayal of the feelings and emotions of a soldier who is engaged in battle. In my opinion, he the author of these memoirs, was surprised by his own actions after the battle. In fact, during this fierce battle, he sometimes showed unnecessary cruelty, but sometimes he showed mercy that was dangerous for his own life. It can be evident in his memories that the decisions he made during the battle were not the decisions made by his mind – but by his heart, emotions and reflexes….
