Before I started my tolerance break, the one thing I was most worried about was not being able to fall asleep and having to deal with insomnia again. I’ve had insomnia on and off for decades (driven by stress, anxiety and trauma) and I found cannabis to be a helpful tool for helping me get sleepy and giving me the rest I need.
To my surprise, 2 weeks into my tolerance break and everyday I’ve been able to fall asleep without cannabis! The only caveat is that I am sleeping 2-3 hours later in the night than I normally would because I’m not feeling as sleepy yet (with cannabis I sleep at 10:30 pm wake up at 6 am, on this tolerance break I’ve been sleeping 12:30am ish to 7/8 am).
I much prefer sleeping earlier because I personally feel more rested and energetic in the morning, but at least I’ve debunked my own myth of not being able to sleep without cannabis 😂 it’s amazing the new things I’ve learned about my own physical and mental health! Nonetheless, I’ll still be returning to cannabis after my tolerance break because there are far more positives cannabis offers me beyond just sleep, but I wanted to share these tips on how I’ve developed a working sleep hygiene routine for myself!
