When performing a posterior joint mobilization for the shoulder, there are a couple of key things you need to pay attention to:
1. I perform a short axis mobilization by getting close to the joint, I want to feel the movement and control it. I’m not a fan of putting a lot of blind force through a long axis mobilization.
2. Even more importantly, you must perform this in the posterolateral direction. If you go straight plane posterior you aren’t matching the plane of the glenoid. Get a real hard end feel? That’s probably the glenoid, not the capsule!
