Join Dr. Carrie Cuttler as we focus on the short-term effects and potential longer-term consequences of using cannabis to manage physical and emotional pain.
We will begin with a brief discussion of the history of cannabis and the most common reasons for cannabis use.
This will be followed by a description of previous research on effects of cannabis on migraine, headache, depression and anxiety.
Finally, three studies from the Health and Cognition laboratory pertaining to the short- and long-term effects of cannabis on physical pain (e.g., migraine, headache) and emotional pain (depression, anxiety) will be described.
We will conclude with a summary and a proposal of a band-aid model of cannabis use.
