CBD (cannabidiol) is a Phyto cannabinoid that was discovered in 1940. It is one of 113 cannabinoids found in cannabis plants, along with THC, and accounts for up to 40% of the plant’s extract. Roger Adams was the first to discover CBD, in 1940. He extracted CBD and another cannabinoid called CBN (cannabinol) from hemp plants and proposed the presence of the psychoactive molecule THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).
