Recorded on July 27, 2023, this session was led by Rita Lynn Lawrence. After her diagnosis of FSHD, she retired from her photography career and became an advocate for wellness and harm reduction through holistic resources. She is a Meditation Guide and a Medical Cannabis Caregiver with a holistic health center in Maryland. Rita is a student at Maharishi International University majoring in Consciousness and Human Potential. She has been married for 20 years and has three children.
The goal in sharing is to be helpful in this space, offer resources to improve feeling good, enhance quality of life and well being without harmful side effects.
Here are Rita’s notes:
1. Our 1st medicine is our food, eat whole living foods everyday especially good sources of protein, shopping the outside aisles of the store is a good start. When pain or problems persist there are more medicinal food and herbs legal in some states out there to research.
2. Spirit/Soul Workouts: prayer, finding our purpose after diagnosis, forgiveness, community, meditation
3. Mind Workout: Find or create a comfortable space then commit to daily mindfulness practices such as coloring or listening to healing frequencies, and or meditation.
4. Breath Workout: Find or create a comfortable space then commit to practice deep & slow breaths for 15minutes. Let your in breath come through your nose – long and slow fill your abdomen first then chest and out breath even longer through your mouth. For example in breath 3 seconds and out breath 7 seconds. Continue practicing and extending the seconds if your breaths when possible.
