Sales of cannabis in Connecticut passed $25 million in September for the first time, the Department of Consumer Protection said Tuesday.
According to preliminary data, sales of adult-use marijuana, also known as recreational cannabis, totaled $14.39 million in September, while medical marijuana sales totaled $10.81 million, according to the department. Adult-use sales began on Jan. 10 and have increased every month since.
Medical marijuana sales for 2023 peaked in March at $12.58 million and have been generally stable since July.
In September, recreational-use consumers purchased 376,035 products, while medical marijuana patients bought 284,116. The average price for adult-use products was $38.37 in September, while the average price of medical-marijuana products was $38.21.
Flowers made up the majority of sales for the month, 52%, with vapes totaling 30% and edible products totaling 11%, according to Consumer Protection.
