http://smokersguide.com – A large group showed up at the the Nieuwmarkt in Amsterdam for the Anti-Weed Pass Demonstration to show their support in favor of leaving coffeeshops open to all patrons.
SP (Social Party national politicians) representatives, coffeeshop owners and patrons alike, joined forces on Friday, the 31st August 2012, to voice their strong opinions AGAINST the proposed “wietpas” (Weed Pass). The wietpas would force all coffeeshops to become private clubs with a maximum membership of 2000 registered members per shop. It would force individuals to “out” themselves and their marijuana usage, giving the government, the police and possibly others, access to the personal data.
Spearheading the movement was Haarlem coffeeshop owner Nol van Schaik and Futurola with guests from Haarlem like Medical Cannabis supporter Peter Lunk, Coffeeshop Birdy and Amsterdam coffeeshops Katsu, Bluebird, The Doors, Funny People and many others.
The movie is in Dutch but there is a very basic translation in English below for all you non-Dutch speakers out there who are following the ongoing coverage of the weed pass debate here in The Netherlands.
Haarlem coffeeshop owner Mr. van Schaik starts the afternoon off with a BANG:
“Good Afternoon Amsterdam!”
“Capital of The Netherlands, Marijuana Capital of the ENTIRE FUCKING WORLD!”
“They’re not going to force us to register and discriminate!”
“I’m giving the mic over to SP (Social Party) rep. Nelly Duijndam, and she’s going to explain their stance.”
SP representative Ms.Duijndam has a few kind words to say about the coffeeshops and how SP sees them in this country:
“OK Thanks…”
“The weedpass isn’t the solution the weed pass IS the problem.”
“Dealers are back on the streets, People are purchasing soft drugs on the streets again, criminals are gaining strength and we can’t have this.”
“SP has a policy against the right wing coalition’s plans; they need to leave the coffeeshops in peace.”
“Coffeeshops are being pushed into the criminal areas of the justice system and we cannot let this happen.”
“Thank you very much.”
Haarlem coffeeshop owner Mr. van Schaik takes the mic back:
“Thank YOU also, I’m also happy that SP stands for smoking your joint, and not Joint Strike Fighters, for 64 million per plane, you could build a hospital!”
“Thank you SP Ms.Duijndam”
“SP sees the coffeeshops as The Solution.”
