Mongolian Beef
The sauce:
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. soy sauce
3/4 c. brown sugar
1-2 Tbs. minced garlic
1-2 Tbs. minced ginger
1-2 Tbs. oil
Heat oil in a saucepan when hot, lightly saute ginger and garlic. Add water sugar and soy sauce and bring to a boil. simmer for 10-20 min.
1 1/2 pounds beef, cut into strips
Toss beef in about 1/2 cornstarch and let stand for 10-20 minutes
Brown beef, add sauce, 1/2 to 1 bunch green onions cut into 1″ pieces and 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes or cut up cayenne pepper and bring to a boil for 1 minute.
Serve over rice or noodles.
