A few years ago I was reading @michael.pollan book “this is your mind on weed” and it really changed my perspective on how the word “psychoactive” is being used in our society and also my relationship with coffee/caffeine.
If you haven’t read the book, I highly recommend it! Michael Pollan is such an excellent author and is able to present complex information in an engaging way that leaves me wanting to learn more.
TLDR caffeine is technically considered to be a psychoactive dr*g but for many reasons that are too much to explain in an Instagram caption, the cannabis plant which is also a psychoactive substance when decarboxlyated, has a way worse reputation than your morning cup of joe ☕️
Now I don’t like using the word dr*g in this context because it has a negative connotation. Whereas I believe coffee and cannabis are simply plants. The “war on dr*gs” and old school media has demonized the herb for its mind and behaviour altering properties, even though coffee does the same thing 🤣
Imagine this: going to your local 🍃 shop and enjoying the green before work. This would outrage some. But guess what? People do this with coffee every morning 😂
I’m a coffee and cannabis enthusiast and I think when both are consumed responsibly and used mindfully, they can be great tools in enhancing productivity and creativity, or can be used in other practices (ie.weed for relaxing). I just wanted to take this time to point out the crazy double standards laid upon the 🍃 in the 21st century.
