Are Walnuts the BEST Vegan Ground Beef Substitute? | Easy, healthy, delicious plant-based recipes
Walnut meat is super delicious and a good alternative to ground beef. If you haven’t tried it yet this is your sign. Soak your walnuts over night or boil them for 45 minutes. Strain the water and pulse in a food processor until it resembles ground beef. Bonus points if you season the water, so the walnuts can absorb the flavor.
This fantastic ingredient can be used in various dishes like chili, spaghetti, and, of course, Crunchwraps.
Walnut “Meat” Ingredients:
Water or Veggie broth
1 c walnuts or pecans
1⁄2 c portobello mushrooms
2 tbsp chili seasoning
2 tbsp tamari/soy sauce
2 cloves garlic
1 tsp liquid Smoke
1 tbsp vegan Worcestershire sauce
Homemade chili seasoning for Chili:
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon pepper
