Dr. Mike Beazely, Research Chair of Rural Substance Use at Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health and associate professor at University of Waterloo’s School of Pharmacy explored the topic of substance use both in the rural primary and community care setting as the 30th lecture in Gateway CERH’s ongoing virtual lecture series. This lecture included a discussion on critical topics with a rural lens such as cannabis legalization, lower risk drinking guidelines, opioid use disorder, and prescription use of psychedelics. Both resources and recent research in this area were presented to further understanding.
