I bet you didn’t know the guy who invented the RICE METHOD… retracted his statements many years later.
Why??
📢 Because ice DOES NOT facilitate tissue healing.
Ice is used to reduce swelling…keep in mind that anything that reduces inflammation (swelling) also delays healing since the process of inflammation is an essential aspect of recovery itself.
Cold therapy typically slows the soft tissue swelling to some extent, it does not hasten the recovery process.
The FIRST thing you should be doing is—-MOVING!
BLOOD HEALS!
I.C.E is out and M.E.A.T is in!
Movement | Exercise | Analgesia | Treatment
M.E.A.T. increases the flow of blood to injured areas in order to enhance the healing process.
Movement enhances flushing of lymph and blood. This removes debris and brings in new, nutrient-rich blood to the affected area
Exercise will further increase circulation
Natural pain killers that have been known to help manage pain include ginger, turmeric, capsaicin, valerian root, magnesium, and cannabis.
Treatment can include joint mobilization, acupuncture, soft tissue release, theragun, ice, heat, TENS, etc.
The days of resting and feeling sorry for yourself is over !
